THE PAST
Built in 1881, The West Works began life as Partick Methodist Church – a place of worship, gathering and community at the heart of Glasgow’s West End. Defined by its scale, craftsmanship and distinctive sandstone architecture, it served generations of people for well over a century.
But as the years passed, the building fell into severe disrepair. Weathered, neglected and increasingly vulnerable, its future became uncertain. A demolition warrant was eventually granted, bringing this remarkable building perilously close to being lost forever.
What happened next would begin an entirely new chapter in its 145-year story.
