What followed was a restoration of extraordinary scale.
Years of neglect had taken their toll, and bringing the building back required far more than a renovation. From the stonework and roof to the windows, structure and services, almost every element has required careful repair, restoration or renewal.
The approach has been simple – preserve what makes the building remarkable, while giving it everything it needs for its next chapter. Original sandstone, architectural details and historic character have been retained wherever possible, sitting alongside contemporary interventions designed to complement rather than compete.
It has been challenging, painstaking and, at times, relentless – but today a building once facing demolition is coming back to life. Not as a recreation of what it was, but as a careful evolution of it.
